Etsy UK pricing calculator: what to charge
Most Etsy calculators start from a price. This one starts from what you want to keep. Enter your costs and a target margin or profit per order, and it works backwards through every UK Etsy fee to the item price you'd need to charge. Fee rates checked against Etsy's Help pages on ….

How it works
For a UK seller, Etsy takes a 6.5% transaction fee, 4% + £0.20 payment processing and a 0.48% Regulatory Operating Fee on the order (item plus postage), plus the $0.20 listing fee. It also adds 20% VAT on those fees unless Etsy has your VAT ID. Because the percentages apply to the price you're solving for, you can't just add costs and fees together. The calculator searches for the lowest price where your profit (order total − Etsy fees − your costs) reaches the target, then rounds up to the next penny.
The margin ceiling: because the percentage fees come to 10.98% (13.18% with VAT on fees), you can never keep more than about 86.8% of an order. With Offsite Ads at 15% that drops to about 68.8%. Ask for more and the calculator says so instead of giving a silly number.
Worked example (the defaults): it costs £6 to make, postage is £3.20 both ways, and you want 30%. List at £13.73. The order is £16.93, Etsy's fees (with VAT) are £2.65, and you keep £5.08, which is 30% of £16.93. To hold 30% even on an Offsite Ads sale you'd need £21.58.
Honest caveats
- One order, one item. It doesn't spread fixed costs (Etsy Ads, Etsy Plus, equipment) across sales. Add a per-item share to "Cost to make" if you want them covered.
- Margin here means profit ÷ order total (item + postage), the same definition as the fee calculator and the profit margin guide.
- VAT-registered sellers also owe VAT on their own sales. This doesn't deduct that. See the Etsy VAT guide. Not tax advice.
- Rates change. Check the dated sources below before relying on a figure.

FAQ
How do I work out what to charge on Etsy UK?
Add up what one order costs you (making it, packaging, postage), choose the margin or profit you want, then find the price where order total − Etsy fees − costs hits that target. Etsy's fees scale with the price, so solve for it rather than just adding fees on top. This calculator does the solving.
What profit margin should I aim for on Etsy?
There's no official figure, and it depends on your product and your time. Use the price ladder to see what each margin means in pounds, then compare with what similar items sell for. This page won't tell you a "good" number because that would be a guess.
Should I build Offsite Ads into my price?
If your shop has made $10,000 USD or more in any 365 days, Offsite Ads are compulsory (12%), and some of your sales will carry the fee. Under that, you can opt out. Tick the box to see the price that keeps your target even on an ad-attributed sale. See the Offsite Ads guide.
Is postage included in the fees?
Yes. Etsy charges transaction, processing and regulatory fees on postage too. That's why "postage you charge" and "postage it costs you" are separate inputs.
